Automobile Engineering is further mainly classified into three major streams:

(1) Product or Design Engineering,

(2) Development Engineering, and

(3) Manufacturing Engineering.

Product Engineers or Design Engineers: These engineers deal with the designing and testing of the components and systems of automobiles.

Development Engineers: They design and test each part of the visualised automobile, inspecting that it meets all requirements, such as performance as required, the material meeting desired durability, and so on.

Manufacturing Engineers: They deal with activities like how to create and assemble the whole parts of automobiles. They have to design and layout the equipment, machine rates and line rates, specification of automation equipment, and manufacturing safety procedures.

Automobile engineering deals with designing vehicles, manufacturing new products, repairing, and servicing vehicles. It is indeed a sub-branch of mechanical engineering and is also known as automotive engineering or vehicle engineering. It involves studying motor systems, design, technology, and many more. The rapid advancement in technology in recent years has ushered in a new era of hi-tech vehicles, making the business environment in the Indian auto industry very conducive. So, your prospects as an automobile engineer will be favourable, as the sector is growing at a very fast pace. The automobile engineering field requires a lot of determination, dedication and hard work from engineers of this field.
