The reputation is established in the fact that the top leaders of the technical field like Infosys, Google, Paytm, RBI, Flipkart, Politics are from the IIT`s. What makes them so special is the fact the education is directly in sync with the latest standards and is updated on a regular basis which makes the learning even more appropriate for the students in the competitive world. Imparting technical education is a costly affair and mostly the government has the regular funding to finance the changing infrastructural needs. Thus this allows the candidates studying in the IIT`s a great chance to have an edge over other in terms of knowledge and are able to achieve success in life. Moreover these institutions are also the centres of high-quality research which also makes sure that the changes are regularly incorporated into the main stream making the learning even more effective.
IIT`s are spread across the country and each of the institution strives to be tagged as the best. Moreover they also undertake the imparting of almost all the disciplines in the field of technical education making them the temples of education. IIT`s operate under the Ministry of Human Resource Development and are autonomous bodies who have the capacity to impart degrees on their own which are recognized across the world. In the recent years the central governments have given extensive attention in developing IIT`s in every state of the country. Admission in IIT`s are achieved through the Joint Entrance Exam or JEE which is conducted each year and the students have to clear the examination in two phases (JEE (Main) & JEE (Advanced)) making them eligible for admission in the IIT`s. Once the students achieve a rank in the exam they can then sit for counselling sessions which awards them a degree of choice as per rank and also the institution location. JEE also makes sure that you have a state rank which makes you eligible for state universities as well. The various IITs function autonomously, and their special status as Institutes of National Importance facilitates the smooth running of IITs, virtually free from both regional as well as student politics. Such autonomy means that IITs can create their own curriculum and adapt rapidly to the changes in educational requirements, free from bureaucratic hurdles. The government has no direct control over internal policy decisions of IITs but has representation on the IIT Council. Course fees for B.Tech in IIT is about INR 4,00,000 (Rupees four lakh). The medium of instruction in all IITs is English.
